Born August 12, 1945, in Fumel, France. Jean Nouvel has run his own architectural firm since 1970. Major buildings completed by Jean Nouvel include the Arab World Institute, Lyon Opera House, Cartier Foundation in Paris, Galeries Lafayette in Berlin, Lucerne Culture and Convention Centre (Switzerland ), Tours Conference Centre, The Hotel, Lucerne, Andel office building, Prague, Palais de Justice, Nantes, Dentsu Tower, Tokyo, Archaeological Museum, Périgueux, Wismar Technology Centre, Hôtel Saint-James, France, Agbar Office Tower, Barcelona, Reina Sofia Museum extension, Madrid, Musée du Quai Branly, Paris and Guthrie Theater, Minneapolis..
He has been awarded the Aga Khan Prize for the Arab World Institute, the International Highrise Award for the Agbar Tower in Barcelona, the Borromini Prize for the Cultural and Convention Centre in Lucerne, the Architectural Record Award for Hôtel Saint-James, and the Best French Building of the Year Award for the Lyon Opera House and the Arab World Institute.
Ateliers Jean Nouvel and the Caralonia-based Ribas & Ribas Studio have been working together for a decade. Their most recent collaborations include Catalonia Fira Hotel in Hospitalet de Llobregat, Barcelona, opened in January 2012. Escofet contributed to this project with its concrete interior wall panels. |
