www.miguelmila.comMiguel Milá was born in Barcelona in 1932. In 1950, he joined the office run by architect Federico Correa and his brother, Alfonso Milá, until he set up his own industrial and interior design studio in 1958.
Milá was a witness and a key figure in the birth of Spanish industrial design in the early 1960s. His work, which has not dated thanks to its rationalism and functionalism, has been the subject of several ethological exhibitions. He has also received many awards including the first ever Spanish National Design Prize in 1987, the ADI-FAD Golden Delta Award on several occasions, a special Golden Delta in 1986, the Silver Delta on nine occasions and the Compasso d’Oro Internazionale in 2008.
In 1991, Miguel Milá created the TRAM modular bench, an outstanding design on account of its comfortable, ergonomic shape which lightens the presence of the cast stone and projects a sense of flexibility to its users. In 2009 he authored LAUREL&HARDY, a litter bin-ashtray combination, in conjunction with his son Gonzalo, also an industrial designer. |
