The geometry of the Banda Doblada bench is based on a concrete band folded back on itself to create a bench with two parts.
In its aggregation as a continuous bench in the shape of a rotor it is transformed into a complex element that, in itself, creates settings in which to converse.
This was the winning design of the “White Concrete Urban Furniture Design” competition organised by the White Chair of the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia in 2003, with the sponsorship of Cemex España. The winning architecture students were Susanne Cierniak and Tran Thanh Minh Nguyen. It was first installed on the campus of the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia.
An innovative bench that does not emulate our behaviour. Rather it challenges our imagination with a high grade of freedom of use. The aggregation of modules gives rise to a continuous bench in the shape of a rotor that enhances its interaction with users.
Dry-mix concrete reinforced with stainless steel. Stripped finish and colour in accordance with the standard Escofet colour chart. It is self-stabilising and can rest on the paving, lawn or sand with no need for anchors.
