Barana is a modular backless bench with a simple geometry. Its main feature is its versatility in terms of use and options, which allow it to blend perfectly into its surroundings as an individual backless bench or as several benches forming an aligned layout, delimiting barriers in public areas in the form of a wide rail. It is completed by the Barana stool, which measures 80 x 80 cm.
This modular bench was designed by the architects MBM and Puigdomenech, with the intention of creating an element that would perform the functions of a bench and a wide rail along Gregal wharf, in the Olympic Port of Barcelona.
A design that is rigorous and simple in terms of its formulation, but universal in terms of its application. The simplicity of its shape and its straightforward manufacturing process make Barana an extremely competitive urban element in comparison to others with similar characteristics.
Backless bench made from reinforced, etched, water-repellent concrete in the Escofet standard chart colour. The Barana backless bench is self-balancing and can be simply installed on the paving, with no need for anchors. The Barana stool has 4 M16-140mm threaded bolts for anchoring to the paving or slab. It can be lifted with slings or a forklift truck, after first protecting the surface of the lower support of the backless bench.
