Vilnius is a contemporary reinterpretation of the traditional urban bench in which ergonomic criteria and sustainability in design take pride of place. The result is a bench with comfortable ergonomics. When it is lengthened, it is folded to create a seat for collective use that goes by the name Vilnius Duplo. Vilnius come with and without armrests.
It was first installed in the city of Barcelona, within the context of the public area project surrounding the Barcelona Trade Fair complex, based on a project by Toyo Ito and Óscar Tusquets during this latter phase.
Available in two sizes, the Vilnius bench is 200 cm and can be presented with or without armrests, while the bench Vilnius Duplo is 290 cm, slightly curved and only without armrests, both can be combined to form compositions in the landscape.
The bench is made from UHPC-Slimconcrete which also contributes high resistance and sustainability criteria based on its light weight. The cast aluminium supports are coated with textured silver paint. In the public area it is anchored with screws recessed in the paving and fastened with resin. It is self-stabilising and can also be installed by resting it on the paving.
