Highfive is an anti-intrusion urban element formed by five moulded concrete volumes. Its main objective is to withstand the impact of heavy vehicles in order to protect and guarantee the safety of citizens, organise pedestrian and bicycle flows and limit parking spaces. It can be installed individually or interlocked with other elements to form an unbreakable chain that reinforces the concept of “ethical urbanity and pacification of the city”.
Highfive was first installed in avenue de France, in Paris, to be tested as a prototype. It has been awarded with the Innovation Neighbourhoods Award and developed within the context of the urban innovation programme Faire Paris 2018, as an energising platform for projects promoted by Pavillon de l’Arsenal and Cité de Paris.
Highfive is a reinterpretation of anti-intrusion urban protection elements, for use as an alternative to concrete blocks, which fail to adapt well to the requirements of the city, transmuting them into beautiful elements that, in turn, enhance biodiversity.
A solid, free-standing, one-piece element formed by five volumes. Depending on its specific configuration, it can be used to house plants and small shrubs, as occasional seating for informal use, or simply as a gravel ballast container.
As a modular element, Highfive adapts to the geometry of each site, ensuring a balance between safety and usability. The system allows for the interlocking of several units connected by a metal cable, forming an unbreakable chain with a variable length.
Moulded concrete, reinforced with stainless steel, with an etched finish and in the Escofet standard chart colour. Highfive has an innovative system for anchoring it to the ground that is activated in response to any eventual shifting. It has four threaded locking rings that enable it to be lifted and moved with slings.
