Presenting the book “Un material para imaginar”

At an event brimming with enthusiasm and passion for architecture at the prestigious Mies van der Rohe Pavilion in Barcelona, we presented the book entitled A material for imagining. Innovation and singularity in the concrete façades of Escofet to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the beginning of the industrialisation of concrete façades. 

The work, written by Doctor of Architecture Oriol Paris Viviana, embodies the essence and innovation of concrete façades through the works created by Escofet. A technological journey through the evolution and characteristics of precast concrete façades, from their beginnings in the 1970s to the present day.  

The book was presented by Mariona Benain, head of Escofet’s Façade Line, who highlighted the importance of the occasion and the company’s magnificent relationship with architectural excellence. The event was attended by Ramón Farré-Escofet, architect and president of the company, who gave a speech to praise Escofet’s unique character since its creation 137 years ago, pointing out that its commitment was and continues to be a desire to combine art, craft and industry through innovation and engage in dialogue with the world of architecture, design and the urban environment. 

His speech was followed by an enriching debate and reflections on the book. The author, Ramon Farré-Escofet, Ramón Araujo Armero and Felip Pich-Aguilera all took part. These experts shared their perspectives and knowledge of the present and future of prefabricated construction, the serialisation of façade panels, and the challenges facing architectural projects in the coming years, generating a fascinating and rewarding dialogue. 

Daniel Milà, Escofet’s managing director, brought the presentation to a close with words of thanks, emphasising the importance of collaboration between authors, architects and the company in undertaking innovative architectural projects.  

The evening concluded with the presentation of the book and the taking of institutional photos, after which the attendees were able to take home a copy of this inspirational work.
