Gata

2026

A high-back urban chair that explores the relationship between form, structure and maerial, expanding the possibilities of urban furniture through additive manufacturing.

Gata is a seat with a vertical presence and continuous profile whose enveloping silhouette evokes a restrained, almost feline tension between lightness and stability. Its name refers to the dynamic balance that defines its formal character: a piece that seems to fold onto itself while maintaining a firm presence on the ground.

The geometry is conceived as a section in motion, where the printed layers not only build volume but also articulate the structural logic of the piece. The curvature of the backrest and the transition towards the seating plane respond to a precise balance between ergonomics and structural performance, integrating the production process and design into a single formal operation.

Manufactured through 3D printing in concrete, Gata reveals the stratification inherent to the printing process, a texture that defines its material identity. The piece can be presented with the neutral surface finish inherent to the industrial process, or with a burnished finish that reveals the texture of the aggregate, creating a warmer and more comfortable surface. The burnished treatment also highlights the singular character of each piece, where the aggregate remains partially exposed, establishing a balance between material expression, aesthetic quality and functional performance. The base colour is an off-white that takes on a beige tone when the burnishing process is applied.

Gata can be used as a standalone element or arranged in compositions that create sequences and rhythms within public space, acting as an articulating element capable of introducing a recognisable gesture and a human scale in diverse urban contexts.

As the first piece in the catalogue developed through additive manufacturing, Gata does not represent a rupture but rather an evolution in our way of designing and making the city, expanding the field of formal exploration without altering the criteria of quality, durability and industrial coherence that underpin our trajectory.
