Plataforma Bus

The Bus Platform was formulated to meet the demand of the city of Barcelona aimed at improving its mobility conditions. Its pioneering installation was in 1996, maintaining its relevance to this day.

Its contribution to improving urban mobility is to avoid the bus maneuvering to approach the sidewalk, improving the speed and safety of passenger boarding and alighting. At the same time, space is recovered for vehicle parking flanking the platform.

The platform system consists of three modular elements:
Central, Left, and Right, each 3 metres long, 1.40 m wide and 18 cm high. The set includes articulated aluminium ramps, measuring 1.50 m by 50 cm, which bridge the varying height levels between sidewalk and concrete platform and facilitate cleaning beneath the bars.

The three modular elements incorporate a tactile texture at the edge of the horizontal surface to make the edge visible and non-slip. In the left module, the grooving is interrupted to delineate the bus entry threshold. On the vertical plane, relief stripes contrasted with reflective gray paint make them more visible at night. The ramps have a grooved surface to prevent pedestrian slipping, a 100% accessible solution.

The Bus Platform is made of reinforced concrete with the Eco-Grey® formulation, which incorporates recycled aggregate from nearby construction and demolition waste. The folding grates are made of aluminum casting. Their supports are made of galvanized steel. It is installed resting on the pavement with vertical metal anchor pins that secure and prevent lateral displacement without the need to fix it with resin.
