Slope brings natural elements into urban areas and integrates urban features into nature. Its undulating orographic surface encourages realxation and contemplation.
Conceived as a single model, it reveals itself as a landscape element designed for possible solitary use, but it offers its combinatorial capacity in its compositional background.
An element made of molded concrete and reinforced with stainless steel. Its surface finish is a smooth pickling that, with use, approaches polishing. Self-stable, it is installed without anchors thanks to a weight of 1500 kg and a low center of gravity.
The design originates from a meticulous study of reptile tissues to understand how their scales aggregate and how their structure transforms in the transition where movement is necessary. Thus, learning from the aggregation systems of these natural tissues, an attractive, ambiguous, and versatile piece is synthesized. Slope is the result of transferring this concern to the field of urban furniture.
The authors say: “Surely one of the vital characteristics of our contemporary society is the search for a new relationship with the natural; new patterns, new systems, and also new forms that make us perceive the action of progress in harmony with the natural context that surrounds us, allowing us to integrate it and be integrated into it.”
