Joining Forces with Fundación ONCE for universal accessibility

Escofet 1886 and Fundación ONCE, an organization founded in 1988 by ONCE to promote cooperation and the social inclusion of people with disabilities, particularly in the areas of employment, training, and universal accessibility, have signed a collaboration agreement to promote initiatives aimed at achieving universal accessibility and design for all.
José Luis Martínez Donoso, General Director of Fundación ONCE, and Daniel Milà, General Director of Escofet 1886, formalized the agreement at an event held at Fundación ONCE's headquarters in Madrid.
According to the agreement, both organizations will jointly promote actions focused on improving universal accessibility, raising awareness and providing training on disability, and fostering employment opportunities for people with disabilities.
Specifically, they will launch a cooperation program to promote universal accessibility and inclusive design in built environments. In this context, Fundación ONCE will advise Escofet on the design and production of urban furniture elements, as well as on the planning and execution of public urban spaces. It may also support the organization and implementation of testing and user trials involving people with disabilities.
Both organizations may collaborate on the creation of guides, manuals, or any other type of publication related to universal accessibility and inclusive design in the elements of public urban spaces that are part of Escofet’s business.
In terms of training and employment, the agreement provides for training on universal accessibility and inclusive design in Escofet’s areas of operation, both for its own employees and for other professionals in the sector.
The document also refers to the development of a job catalog adapted to different disability profiles, improvements to recruitment processes for people with disabilities, and specific training plans for each position and for new hires with disabilities.
To support these initiatives, Fundación ONCE will connect Escofet with INSERTA Empleo, the organization within the ONCE Social Group responsible for training and employment for people with disabilities.
