Beacons

Mota

2007

A concrete boundary-beacon of great sobriety and formal simplicity with a built-in lighting fixture for illuminating pathway.

Mota is a faceted concrete volume in the shape of an inverted 'L' that incorporates a space for the integration of the LED luminaire and, due to its height, can be used as an occasional seat.

Its name comes from the sixth example of use given to the word “mota” by the dictionary of the Royal Academy of the Spanish Language. “A natural or artificial prominence with a low height that rises up above a plain”. This is justified by the place where it was installed, the paths of the river park on the Ranillas meander of the River Ebro as it passes through Zaragoza.

Made of reinforced concrete with a etched and waterproof finish, available in colors according to Escofet's standard chart. The Mota beacon is anchored to the paving or to a strip footing of 60 x 60 x 30 cm with two M16 threaded rods. With an opening at the bottom formed by a corrugated pipe for electrical wiring to pass through the concrete body.
