Banco Nomo de madera de Josep Muxart
Banco Nomo de madera de Josep Muxart

The Nomo bench and chair series was designed based on the wish to create site furnishing elements with great formal austerity. The result is a contemporary review of the old benches made from steel and timber, highlighting their robustness by using generous cross-sections in the steel supports and the seat and back.

The Nomo bench and chairs were first installed in the “Garrofer” gardens, based on a project by the same author. A single model with a metal support and armrest, to make up the chair of 72 cm, bench of 190 cm and also a bench of 300 cm with three supports.

The oversized cross-section of the steel supports and the timber boards convert this bench into an extremely resistance element, both in appearance and in reality. The great height of the armrests makes it easy for elderly people to sit down and stand up without reducing the conditions of comfort.

The supports are made from zinc-plated steel and have a baked, silver, metallic, soft-textured paint finish. The seat and back are resolved with three FSC Scandinavian pine timber boards with the same cross-section. With protective treatment applied in an autoclave. Anchored to the paving with recessed screws and secured with resin, maintaining high resistance to lateral impact.
