Drawing inspiration from contemporary furniture archetypes and harnessing the structural and formal potential of UHPC-Slimconcrete, the Nantes chair model comes to life.
Inspired by the design of mass-produced, low-cost seats with metal structures and a tensioned fabric, we associated the characteristics of the behaviour of this material and the shapes it generates with the possibilities offered by UHPC-Slimconcrete in the site furnishings field.
The Nantes chair is reminiscent of mass-produced textile furniture. Fabrics hung on lightweight metal structures, sometimes folded, with the structure and membrane being completely independent.
Manufactured in a single piece of UHPC-Slimconcrete, the seat and backrest are textured with a 1mm hemp burlap relief. The structure is made of solid stainless steel, machined and curved, with a shot-blasted finish, and can be complemented with armrests. The table, without texture, is 100 cm in diameter and 70 cm in height. The installation is on the pavement, anchored with threaded studs fixed with resin. In the case of a removable installation, the anchoring is with through bolts and expansion plugs.
