Nigra is a collection formed by a chair and bench and is distinguishable because of the abstract shape of the Z-shaped concrete profile and variable cross-section. Created by architects who design public space. The Nigra chair can be installed as an isolated element, be arranged in groups or form linear compositions, while the Nigra bench combines the cross-section of the chair as a support for the timber boards, straightening their characteristic profile.
The characteristic black polished finish gives rise to the name of this individual chair which appears in the first projects of the 1990s in Barcelona. The Nigra bench was designed in accordance with the concept of splitting a chair into two halves that are used as supports for the timber boards that reproduce the cross-section of the original element, giving shape to the back, seat and rear.
With no pretension of formal eloquence, the Nigra chair adopts the condition of the archetype of a natural appearance, with a minor contribution to design. Its ergonomic measurements and the slight inclination of the seat and back make it extremely comfortable, eliminating the sensation of hardness transmitted by the material. The Nigra bench is supplied in two lengths: 1.5 metres with two supports and 3 metres with a third, central support.
The chair and bench supports are made from reinforced concrete with a ground finish. Usually supplied in black, but admits other Escofet standard chart colours. The bench boards are made from FSC® certified tropical wood. The chair and the bench require M16x140 metal anchors and are installed by anchoring to a foundation or to a concrete slab.
