In 1906, Barcelona City Council ran a tender, which Escofet won, to standardise the designs of its “panots”, the paving stones that have fundamentally shaped the image of Barcelona's streets. One hundred and fifteen years later, through the BIT Habitat Foundation, it is launching a new challenge: “Rethinking the panot for the 21st century” with the aim of making it more sustainable, while keeping its iconic design intact.
Our author Emilio Tuñón has won the 2022 National Architecture Prize awarded by the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda. We’ve worked with him on the design of two landscape elements and the construction of one of his buildings.
In 2022, we are presenting new collections of street furniture and also some expansions to the range of established products. In collaboration with some of the world’s most talented designers, Escofet combines the dynamic nature of architecture with the industrial expertise of our technicians to create durable products based on good design and the use of the best materials.
We have participated in the exhibition itinerary of Concéntrico in Madrid. This event exhibits the works produced in the festival’s eighth edition, held recently in Logroño.
The installations on display in Madrid include ¡A la mesa!, by Ander López and Sarai Olabarrieta, and Salones Urbanos, by Izaskun Chinchilla. Both works aim to welcome citizens by fostering a collective sense of belonging in the city and propose ground-breaking solutions to improve the quality of urban space.
